Education
1974-1979 Ryerson Polytechnical Institute
Bachelor of Technology, Architectural Science Program
For more than twenty-five years Thomas has played a key leading role in the design, design development and project management of numerous significant and award winning projects.
As a secondary school senior, Thomas exhibited early leadership, winning a design competition and leading a multi-disciplinary team of students in the prefabrication and construction of a house. At university he was chosen to represent the students and faculty of the Ryerson Architectural Programme at international architectural conferences in Mexico City, Charleston and Dallas. Upon leaving university, Thomas worked with Phillip H. Carter Architect, where he produced numerous published award winning library design projects. The Markham Public Library & Green Village won the Governor-Generals Medal for Architecture, as well as, an award from the professional lighting community. The Lillian H. Smith Library at College and Huron Streets in Toronto has been widely published and photographed, most recently with author Margaret Atwood standing by the sculptured bronze griffins at the entrance.
Thomas was recruited by Kingsland + Architects Inc. as a Senior Project Manager and Associate in April 2001. His diverse and valuable skills are a great support to any project. Thomas consistently provides the expertise to guide projects through their many stages, and believes that design excellence can only be realized in its built form if the implementation achieves the same degree of quality.
