Canada Post Corporation (CPC) has committed to a Postal Transformation Program representing a massive infrastructure investment over the next five years to modernize its national facility network. The new facilities and expansion to existing facilities will feature revised processing and delivery models with increased emphasis on an efficient working environment, ergonomics, health and safety and the natural environment.

Kingslandv Architects Inc. was commissioned by CBRE (project managers) and Canada Post (owner) to design and oversee the construction of a letter carrier’s depot to replace an aged and undersized facility in downtown Port Credit.

The new site, on the outskirts of town, had an existing building of approx. 47,800 sq. ft. The functional program requirements indicated that a facility of 18,079 sq. ft. was required for CPC operations.

CPC needed the existing building to be demolished and to construct a new LCD in accordance with LEED standards.

It was required that this new facility be designed to and be applied for LEED registration. The building is targeted for a LEED Certified designation.
