Rural Ontario is home to more than four million people. That's one quarter of the whole rural and small town population in Canada. Rural Ontario is also home to agriculture, forestry, mining and manufacturing. These sectors contribute greatly to our quality of life. Strong rural communities are the key to a strong, healthy province. OMAFRA, is the government ministry created to ensure that all Ontarians have access to the latest agricultural research and development.

Kingslandv Architects Inc. was recently commissioned by the Ontario Realty Corporation with CBRE as Project Managers to design and oversee the construction of the new Elora Resource Centre for OMAFRA, a 7,100 sq. ft. facility.

The space was designed as a new field office for OMAFRA to accommodate break-out rooms, kitchen facilities, locker room and washroom facilities, a library, storage room, IT room, meeting rooms, administration areas and offices.

Other specialty program areas consisted of a 1,000 sq. ft. for bio-security functions such as a secure bio-hazard laboratory that required specific air quality control, separate shower facilities, and separate dirty and clean entrances. The wall and floor finishes were designed specific to the requirements of clean rooms.
